For the past few months, when I’ve been asked about when to expect the release of For The One, book 5 of the Gaming the System series (William and Jenna’s story), I’ve answered with “expect it at the end of the year,” which I was honestly hoping I would be able to do.
But now, here we are at the beginning of the last month of the year and I still don’t have a release date. I’m sure you’ve been wondering why and I don’t want to leave you in the dark.
Last year, when readers were awaiting another book, I chose to discuss the arduous process to bring a book from a glimmer of an idea into a fully realized love story with subplots and well-rounded characters. Ideally, this takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months. But as the series has progressed, I’m finding that it’s taking longer. And as I’m still pretty new at this, I’m not 100% sure why.
Part of the reason is that each new book comes with brand new challenges in the form of story, characterization and background. Along with that comes the pressure of not wanting to disappoint readers by forcing a problematic plot device or skipping scenes in order to get the book out faster. For The Win took me 8 months to complete, but it’s also by far (as in a full 20% longer than At Any Price) the longest book I’ve ever written. Marketing experts suggested I divide that book into 2 parts in order to get it out faster, but I refused because I felt that would be letting readers down. And the last thing I want to do is let you all down!
My books are long and they take a while to produce and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. So for you, my dear readers, I’m truly sorry about the extended wait but please know that this will be a book that I’ve worked very hard on and that you will hopefully cherish once it is ready to be sent out into the world.
Expect For The One in early 2016 (with an exact date to be announced the minute that I possibly can), and then, afterwards, Worth Any Cost, which will be book 4 of Adam and Mia’s story.
As a little token of reader appreciation, I’ll be revealing the covers of both of these books on December 16, my wedding anniversary. I’ll also be sending out a short Mia and Adam scene of their first Christmas together in the newsletter sometime before the 25th, so make sure you’ve signed up!
With hugs and gratitude for all of you,
Can’t wait for the new books
Is going to be worth the wait. We as readers understand.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Xmas and a happy new year. Can’t wait it will start me new year off with a good read. Will these books also be available in audio.
yay thank you 🙂 <3 The books will be produced in audio though it usually takes a month or two after release because of lining up the actors, editing, proofing the performance, etc. But yes, definitely coming in audio too! 🙂

Thank you, Tiffany. I hope you ended up enjoying the story when I re-sent it! <3 Hugs, Brenna
Thank you so much. I don’t know many people who would have resent it & responde to their fans like that. I’m an even bigger fan now than I was. I loved reading it & can’t wait for the rest of the books to come out. Thank you again!
It’s the least I could do! So glad you enjoyed the story!! xoxo
I just finished your Gaming series (I devoured them in 3 days, because I just couldn’t put them down). I wanted to say thank you for developing a true romance story, where both people make mistakes and face real challenges.
I also wanted to thank you for William. It is rare for authors to write characters like him.
I realize I missed a short story from your newsletter (to which I just subscribed) 🙁
I am eagerly anticipating your next books about these characters.
hi Elizabeth, thank you for your note! So glad you have enjoyed the books and thank you for reaching out and letting me know. Also I’m goad you enjoyed William. His story is coming soon! <3 I forwarded you the newsletter from December with the story in it 🙂
Wishing you all the best, Brenna
I just read/listened to all four books in the gaming series over the weekend. YES, all four over the weekend. I could not stop. I love each of the characters, the story line. I thoroughly enjoyed each book, every word. My hubby is a gamer (blizzard) so I especially related to April. I’m sorry to have missed the newsletter with the short story however have signed up for your newsletters now! I stumbled across the first book on Friday & thought I would give it a go….I am officially hooked and will anxiously be waiting for the next book ~ William & Jenna’s story. I’m sure it wil be extraordinary as well. Thank you for an amazing weekend escape!!
Lisa, so glad you enjoyed the books! I took the liberty of emailing you the newsletter with the links to the Xmas story. Hope you like it! xo Brenna
Hi Brenna, what can I say except I love love love your Gaming series. At home sick from work this week and decided to buy the first book to while away a few hours. However what I didn’t realise is that I would become addicted to this series and ended up buying all the books, staying awake till all hours to read “just one more chapter”. Sobbed, howled and bawled my way thru the end of book 3. I am gutted now to learn there was a Christmas special that I missed. 4 books down and I cannot, literally cannot wait for the next instalment of Mia and Adam. THANK YOU for giving us all such a fantastic, emotional addictive story.
hi Karen, Thanks for letting me know you’ve enjoyed Adam & Mia’s story. I hope you enjoyed the Xmas story, too (I forwarded it to you!) Thanks for reading. xo Brenna
Brenna, I think I speak for many of your readers and we are willing to wait for your work, cause it’s SO FREAKIN AWESOME! I know we all get impatient cause we want it NOW but I’d prefer to have it in one story that takes you longer to write than to be broken up and waiting on a cliff hanger. Just went through and left reviews on Amazon for all your books.
Laura, thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the books. I promise that I’m working my hardest to make this story the best it can possibly be. <3 I really appreciate the reviews! Thank you.
I can’t put the books down… I have read all 4 of them in a week! I’m dieing to know what happened next!
Thank for your work and rekindling my love of reading. 🙂
hi Cristy! I’m thrilled that you’ve enjoyed the books. <3 You'll soon find out what happens next, I promise. Announcement about FOR THE ONE coming VERY soon. Thank you for reading.
All best, Brenna
Love love love the books! Can’t wait till book 5 comes out. Would love to read the news letter r
Barbara, thank you for reaching out to let me know you’ve enjoyed the books. You can subscribe to the newsletter here: http://www.smarturl.it/BANL There are extra scenes from AT ANY PRICE and a Christmas story for Adam & Mia linked in the welcome email you receive. Wishing you all the best. 🙂 Brenna
I just loved Adam and Mia’s story! I got teary-eyed a few times. That tells you it is awesome! I had to read them twice. I am so excited to see that you are writing another book to continue their story. I can’t wait for that! This is a story that will never get old. I just saw that there is a boxed set of their story and it states it has new bonus material. Just wondering how much more is in the boxed set than the individual books? I don’t want to miss out on anything about their story. Thanks for writing their story and I can’t wait for the next chapter of their lives.
Hello. I’d suggest that you sign up for the newsletter. It is not worth buying the boxset just to get the added content, you will get links to everything in the welcome letter, including a Christmas scene that is not included in the boxset. You can always unsubscribe after if you don’t want to get the newsletter emails. Jeff – Brenna’s assistant.
